Plastic Container Surface Fluorination Services by Value Mart
Value Mart has partnered with Inhance, who has developed special methods to achieve optimum barrier performance in plastic bottles and containers without causing undesired degradation or decomposition.
What is plastic container fluorination?
- Time spent in the reactor chamber
- Temperature of the reactor chamber
- Air Pressure applied to the plastic – amount of pressure
- Quantity of Fluorine used
Why should I bother with surface fluorination?
The short of it: To save money by preserving the quality of your product and by reducing spoilage. Inhance will fluorinate plastic bottles and other plastic containers to increase barrier properties and adhesion. Fluorination of polyethylene and polypropylene can eliminate or reduce problems from chemical attack including:
- Paneling and distortion of the container
- Softening of container
- Label blistering
- Product weight loss
- Container discoloration
- Odor emission
- Flavor, fragrance and/or active ingredient loss
Fluorination of polyethylene and polypropylene can increase:
- Shelf life
- Ink wet out
- Closure retention
- Product integrity
How do I get started on fluorinating my products?
After placing your order at Value Mart, we will ship your plastic containers directly to Inhance for treatment.
Inhance will take your plastics out of their shipping packaging, and put them into large FDA compliant stainless steel bins, load them into a chamber, and expose them to elemental fluorine gas and other proprietary gases.
During this process, the fluorine gas creates carbon fluorine bonding on the inside and outside surface area, in essence blocking the porous wall of plastic, helping to eliminate or reduce migration of aggressive chemicals.
Inhance’s fluorination process is FDA compliant, but remember: You must choose FDA approved containers for food products.
